🌱 Origins of the IFGF Movement
The IFGF movement began in the 1980s as a fellowship of Indonesian students in the United States and expanded organically through the late 1980s and 1990s, planting churches across the U.S. and other nations; in the mid-2000s, it became known as International Full Gospel Fellowship to reflect its global mission and identity.
🏙️ Early 1980s: IFGF San Francisco Is Born
God opened the door for IFGF to be planted in the San Francisco Bay Area, where in a city marked by diversity, innovation, and complexity, IFGF San Francisco began with small gatherings of families, students, and professionals united in worship and in building His Church.
🌿 Years of Growth: Building Community and Disciples
Through faith, obedience, and perseverance, IFGF San Francisco grew steadily as care groups, discipleship, worship, youth, and community ministries were established—shaping a church rooted in the Word and led by the Holy Spirit.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” — Acts 2:42
As the church matured, IFGF San Francisco also became a sending and multiplying church, producing and supporting the planting of other IFGF churches across the globe, including IFGF Pinole, IFGF New York, IFGF Tokyo, and more. What began as a local congregation grew into a spiritual home where lives were transformed—and a launching ground for God’s work beyond the Bay Area.
45 years of ministry.
IFGF San Francisco has stood strong since 1980. On our 45th anniversary, Ps. Fendy Hutomo — the founding pioneer of IFGF San Francisco — received a recognition award from the South San Francisco City Council and Chamber of Commerce for 45 years of service, faith, and commitment to the community.
